swissnex China lecture
"Climate Change and Risk Management"
The 2012 swissnex China Lectures Series successfully started and herewith officially opened our season of lectures. Invited guests gathered to our premises, to hear the lecture about “Climate Change and Risk Management”.
In his function as Vice Director of the Federal Office of Environment, and as President of PLANAT National Platform for Natural Hazards, Andreas Götz shared interesting insights about his work and his experience, focusing on ongoing projects and talking about the cooperation between China and Switzerland.
The adaptation to climate change is not just a national issue, but a global problem. Therefore the international transfer of knowledge and experience becomes more and more important, since an increase of extreme events has to be expected in the future. With the signing of the MOU Memorandum of Understanding in April 2009 in Shanghai, another milestone within the successful collaboration between the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment FOEN and the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources, as well as its partner institutions had been set.
