Chinese New Year Gathering 2010
Learn more about the Chinese Folk Customs and listen to a beautiful Chinese music performance
On the occasion of this bright year of the Tiger, swissnex China plans to organise
for its second edition a New Year Gathering based on the success of the previous
year. This is meant to strengthen the network of swissnex China with local universities,
research institutes, arts organizations as well as Swiss organizations (swisscham
Shanghai, Swiss Club, Swiss Learning). Prof. Zhong Fulan from the East China
Normal University, School of Communication and Chairman of Shanghai Folk Society,
will hold a talk about the Year of the Tiger and Chinese customs. Furthermore,
Mr. Zhang Yucheng from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music will be performing
on a dulcimer (a Chinese percussion instrument, the so-called ‘扬琴’).

During the lecture on Chinese folk custom given by Prof. Zhong Fulan from East China Normal University.
After the lecture, Mr. Zhang Yucheng from Shanghai Conservatory of Music played for us several beautiful pieces of music on his Yang Qin.
