Lecture: Individual Social Responsibility

What is the social responsibility of every single individual towards the society it is living in? The closing lecture on “Individual Social Responsibility” will round up the Art Science Society lecture series 2011. Three deemed experts from different fields will elaborate and discuss from their point of view about individual responsibility.

Brief introduction

The Library Project

The Library Project donates books and libraries to under financed schools and orphanages in the developing world. They believe education is the key motivator to breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in the developing world. Up to date, The Library Project has established over 350 libraries in China and Vietnam. Over 500 libraries are planned in China and Vietnam by the end of 2011. Some of the libraries are small and others are large, but all of them help to improve the education of each and every child that touches their many colorful books.

 

Chivalrous Cantaloupe Commune 

Chivalrous Cantaloupe Commune is a non-profit art organization, which is composed of young artists, critics, curators and other freelance artists. The community insists on the fringe art, and experimental artistic style. A series of exhibitions, instrumental art events etc. are organized in the form of different academic subjects, aiming to create a free, and multiple art environment and to explore the way of expression which are beyond the current art system.


Mr. Yang Sanzhong

Mr. Yang has always financially supported the poor students since he started to work. During 2008-2010, he has denoted tens of thousands RMB to the people afflicted by natural disasters around the whole country. Therefore, he was awarded as the “top 10 philanthropic charity entrepreneur” in 2010, Chengdu City. During the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, Yang served as the volunteer, helping four army hospitals with the construction work. From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Yang led the Hongkong Charity Foundation for the Future Generation to the remote mountain areas, and donated to the primary schools. Besides, he contributed a lot to the signing of the agreement between the foundation and Xuyong County. In addition, Yang has collected upto RMB 250 thousand this year to support the poor students for their studies and living.
