The new splendid venue of “swissnex shanghai” was inaugurated during a “house-warming” reception given by the Swiss State-Secretary for Education and Research Dr. Charles Kleiber, the Swiss Ambassador in China, Dante Martinelli, and the director of “swisnex shanghai”, Dr. Hans Peter Hertig. Also present were all the Swiss Science and Technology Councilors from around the world gathered in Shanghai for their annual meeting as well as approximately 100 friends of “swissnex shanghai” from science, art, business and politics. Coco ZHAO, China’s most famous and sophisticated Jazz Singer and old friend of “swissnex shanghai” opened his concert with the famous Swiss folk song “GUGGISBERG-LIED” which he perfectly adapted to the occasion, singing in most charming swiss-german and hitting right in the hearts of the present Swiss expats. More in the Chinese musical tradition was another highlight of the evening: Lè LIU, a young musician from Shanghai, who enchanted the audience with a wonderful concert on the traditional GUZHENG (Chinese Zither).
