Swissnex Shanghai, Switzerland's outpost for science, technology and culture in China, is an initiative of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Similar institutions are located in Boston, San Francisco and Singapore. Our goal is to fully exploit the potential of cooperation between Switzerland and the respective host countries in the fields of higher education, research, technology, innovation and culture and to promote Switzerland as a leading country in those domains.

The Beijing Forum with its theme "Education and Research Cooperation between China and Europe" was organized by different associations related to overseas courses of study.

The event was hosted by:

- Western Returned Scholars Association (Swiss Branch)
- Chinese Overseas-Educated Scholars Association (Swiss Branch)
- Association of Chinese Students and Scholars in Zurich (ACSSZ)
- Chinese Life Science Forum Zurich (CLSFZ)

An interesting and colorful program was leading through the afternoon. The participants heard on swissnex Shanghai and its Sino-Swiss Cooperation Program. The talk was given by the Executive Director of swissnex Shanghai, Ms Flavia Schlegel. Dr. Jiao Renjie, professor and representative of CAS (Chinese Academy of Science) gave a lecture on "Life Science Research Today in China and International Cooperation" followed by a lecture given by MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology in China), Mr. Zhou Longchao, on "Science and Technology Cooperation between China and Europe". This informative afternoon offered various opportunities for new acquaintances and a better knowledge of science and technology transfer.
