swissnex Shanghai is an initiative of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Similar institutions are located in Boston, San Francisco and Singapore. Their goal is to fully exploit the potential of cooperation between Switzerland and the respective host countries in the fields of higher education, research, technology, innovation and culture and to promote Switzerland as one of the leading countries in those domains.
SSSTC Program
SSSTC refers to Sino Swiss Science and Technology Cooperation. It is a governmental framework program between China and Switzerland. It aims to encourage and strengthen individual contacts by building a multi-level research cooperation between institutions, research groups as well as individuals.

Encouraged by the strong support of both Swiss and Chinese governmental S&T agencies, and thanks to the intensified communication effort, more and more Chinese and Swiss researchers are attracted to the SSSTC car shipping program. For the deadline of submission (ended on September 15, 2009), the SSSTC project office has collected 25 applications for exchange grant and 21 propositions of Sino-Swiss institutional partnership. This numbers represent an increase of 41% (exchange grant) and 61% (institutional partnership) compared to the deadline in March 2009.

The 39+ Chinese University Database - online now!
swissnex Shanghai created a database of 39+ leading Chinese universities which are involved in the 985 project of the Chinese government. The database allows Swiss universities and scientists a first general overview on Chinese universities and reasearch institutes.
